Greeting to the Bloggy-sphere.
A good starter question eh? I know what I do as a webmaster but am a little hazy on what others consider webmaster duties.
Yes, web site hosting; web site development; and web site design all come up front but then what? Content is king is, and always has been a viable part of being a webmaster. Web sites should be updated once every week. Some updates are required to keep content fresh and some updates are required to stay organized for the general good of the web site in question. Plus, search engines just love to come back and eat fresh content. Updating content does not mean changing all the text once a week. It is much more than that. Analyzing stats and overall search engine positioning is part of what I do for my clients.
It has come to my attention in the past few years that all webmasters are not made alike and many have no clue how to be a webmaster. Slapping up a web site and calling yourself a webmaster uh, just doesn't cut it.
With the inception of this blog, I will be talking about webmastering as a real job, an art, and a viable place to learn to hang your hat and be able to say:
I am a real webmaster!
Wish me luck, throw in your .02 and let's get down to the nitty gritty.
Your webmaster Buddy, over and out.
